Our Home Base
Welcome to Ballintean Mountain Lodge at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. We’re just a few minutes from the quiet village of Kincraig and a 20-minute drive from the busier town of Aviemore. Glenfeshie is an area of outstanding natural beauty containing some of Scotland’s most treasured wild landscapes and rare wildlife. Vast ancient forests, hidden lochs, heather-clad moorlands and snow-capped mountains provide a breath-taking backdrop to your stay with us.
Our photo tours here are run in house-party style with our own live-in cook allowing us complete flexibility around peak photography times. Neat, comfortable rooms combine with a two-tier lounge and a magnificent dining room to create a relaxed interior environment, which complements the Lodge’s dramatic setting.
Our network of photography hides are mostly within walking distance and our 120-acre “rewilding” reserve, grazed by our own Highland cattle, is right on the doorstep and borders the fast-flowing River Feshie.
Kick off your shoes and make yourself at home!
A few things to note:
- Our Lodge is not a hotel so there is no bar but we serve wine with dinner and you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
- Free WiFi is available but our rural location means that it might not be as fast as you are used to.
- Mobile phone signal is generally good.
- Outwith our own photo tours, Ballintean Mountain Lodge is available to rent, along with its neighbouring cottage. Please visit our dedicated website for details.
