Grizzlies – face to face!
Close encounters with coastal brown bears in an Alaskan wilderness
Lake Clark National Park provides sanctuary for one of the densest populations of grizzly bears in the world. A place of great beauty and a place untamed - as wild as the bears that gorge themselves on the returning salmon each autumn in this remote Alaskan wilderness.
We hope to photograph mothers with spring cubs; sub-adults play fighting and dominant adults charging through river channels chasing fish. The bears here have become accustomed to people and barely notice our presence as they lumber along sometimes only a few metres away - a spine tingling experience!
We will be able to enjoy exceptional opportunities for unique images and peaceful encounters. There is no photography from vehicles, platforms or viewpoints - this is one to one!
