The Bungalow, Ballintean
Ballintean is set in the heart of the magnificent Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty containing some of Scotland’s most treasured wild landscapes and rare wildlife. Vast ancient forests, hidden lochs, heather-clad moorlands and snow-capped mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop for an inspiring yet relaxing holiday.
So where are we exactly? Ballintean sits in a secluded position surrounded by woodland and open meadows at the northern end of Glenfeshie. Kincraig is our nearest village (5km) and the busier towns of Aviemore and Kingussie are a 20-minute drive. The Highland capital of Inverness is 40 minutes by car. The Bungalow occupies a private elevated setting amongst birch and pine woodland with the rushing waters of the River Feshie only two minutes walk away. Built in 1992, the accommodation offers a modern, comfortable home, comprehensively equipped and tastefully furnished.
For wildlife enthusiasts, red squirrels and crested tits abound in the nearby forest and ospreys can be seen fishing the river during the summer. Red and roe deer are frequently seen and pine martens inhabit the woodland edge. On a still winter’s night, the only sound you will hear is the eerie song of a prospecting tawny owl!
For a small fee which we donate to conservation, wildlife photographers have the opportunity to spend time in our hides and can expect to photograph red squirrel, crested tit, great-spotted woodpecker and a range of woodland birds.
Numerous walking and cycling routes lead straight from your door and there are excellent local opportunities for hill walking, climbing, skiing, riding, fishing, birdwatching and golf.
