Very few people have had the privilege to catch a glimpse of a bear in Europe and fewer still have succeeded in their quest to capture images of these elusive creatures - such is the difficulty in getting close to animals that have endured centuries of persecution.
In the wild forests of Finland however, this distant possibility becomes reality. The brown bears of this lush boreal forest have been tempted to a secluded feeding station where, from carefully positioned hides, we can gain a unique and privileged insight into their lives. Providing quiet is maintained, it is not unusual to have several fully grown bear within five metres of the hide! In our opinion, this is the best location for photographing brown bears anywhere in Europe. We will have use of these hides on a rotational basis so that each guest will have the opportunity to photograph the animals against a variety of backgrounds. We will enter the hides in the late afternoon and remain in the hide overnight, leaving in time for breakfast/brunch the following morning.
Photography of this nature is far removed from the kind of experience you would expect from an African safari and you should be prepared for long periods of inactivity in a comfortable but confined space but with the chance of a few minutes (sometimes up to an hour) of adrenaline-charged excitement as one of these impressive predators appears only a short distance away.

“A most enjoyable trip as we've come to expect with Northshots. Great photo opportunities and excellent company as usual.”
