Ptarmigan (male)
Whooper Swans in blizzard, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland
Although this image was taken only a couple of weeks ago, these migrating swans are probably now back in Iceland signifying a tangible change in the seasons. Change is something many of us are pre-occupied with at the moment and our humble business is no different. The changes that we're going through are slightly daunting (most of them involve significant, and sometimes speculative, investment) but are nevertheless exciting. We're presently revamping our website, ramping up our photo-tour programme and finishing off CALEDONIA, our first self-published book, as well as trying to manage the arms and legs growing out of 2020VISION. We're also working with a few new people who will be introduced once the new site is up and running.

So change and challenges on every front, but as I write this, the cronking of overhead geese heading north to their breeding grounds, reminds me that change is the bedrock for productive times ahead.
Best regards

Peter Cairns
Wildphotos open...
It seems like only a couple of weeks since last year's Wildphotos, but the premier event in the nature photography calendar is open again for bookings. Speakers are still to be announced but word has it the topics covered will be as stimulating as ever. More information here.

New Frontiers dates

If you're able to join us at either of the following venues for an evening of music, musings (possibly a few rants) and hopefully some half-decent pictures, you'd be very welcome. The only excuse for not coming to Edinburgh is the double bill of Corrie (don't worry I'll be recording it).

  • April 9th: Rheged Centre, Penrith. 1945hrs. Book tickets.
  • April 15th: Reid Concert Hall, Bristol Sq., Edinburgh. 1900hrs. Book tickets.
New landscape site...
...website that is! Yorkshire-based landscape photographer Tim Parkin has launched www.landscapegb.com, a great source of information and inspiration for all UK landscape enthusiasts.
Well done Brian!
Brian Clark from Dundee (photo-tour guest and jolly fine chap) has recently won the landscape section of the Scottish Nature Photography Awards. His image Autumn Gold was taken, as you might expect, on one of our Autumn Gold tours! Excellent work that man.
And well done all...
Scots Pine, Peter CairnsOver the last few years we've been donating a proportion of our tour revenue to help restore native woodland. Working with one of our corporate charities, Trees for Life, as well as assisting smaller, local planting schemes, we've now reached 7,500 trees planted - all made possible through our loyal client base. But we're not done yet: we're looking into ways of being more effective with our donations so watch this space.
PHOTO-TOUR NEWS

Well first of all thank you very much to all those who have been in touch expressing interest in some of our new tours for 2012. We're still applying the final touches to some of these but I'm assured that our scheduled launch by the end of April is still on.

In the meantime, we still have a few places left on our Finland, Harris, Cairngorms/Skye tours later this year, so if you're looking for some inspirational photography in great locations...and with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure, do join us.

And finally, thanks to all who have rented our squirrel hide over the winter. It will be available again come November and we're looking to make our crested tit hide available too.

Keep abreast of developments, late availability, discounts and a whole manner of things by joining us on Facebook.
