June- Wild Wonders of Europe, The Hague

Wild Wonders of Europe, The Hague

Something a little different this month, something that perhaps symbolises two increasingly important words for anyone with even a passing interest in the natural world: Collaboration and Communication. Last week saw the launch of the Wild Wonders of Europe inaugural outdoor exhibition in The Hague, the result of a great deal of collaborative working by a great number of people. Amidst all of the ceremonial glitz, I spent most of my time people watching. There were young and old from all sorts of cultural and social backgrounds. There were government ministers, tourism chiefs, representatives from conservation partners and even a Princess. Some were more interested than others of course, but almost all succumbed at some point to a smile. It might have been an image of two tussling bear cubs; it might have been the miracle of a mass mayfly hatching or it might have been the realisation that Europe is still rich in nature. Whatever the reason, there were smiles, and lots of them. Collaboration made this exhibition happen but Communication is what it's about, and how better to communicate than by making people smile?
