Extra Winter Wildlife anyone?

September 9 2010

Our Winter Wildlife photo-tours are all now fully booked but there is still a slot to add an extra tour. If you're interested in booking a place, please do let us know as we're presently gauging interest. Can't promise any snow, can't guarantee against too much snow - pays your money, takes your chance!

Dates are likely to be March 5-11 2011.

Office blues.

June 18 2010

Whilst sat in my office sometime last September, I felt the illogical but somehow uncontrollable desire to photograph gannets (it's a long story). I was obviously too late for last year so booked to join a photo-tour this summer. Now, as a tour operator myself, it may seem odd to reverse roles and have someone else do all the thinking for a change! That someone was Guy Edwardes who's been running seabird tours to Ireland for several years - and a jolly fine job he does too! So for the best part of the last week, I've been breathing in the not-so-sweet smell of fresh guano and on one particular occasion, almost eating it too ( I knew I shouldn't have gone too close to that gull's nest!)

Thanks to Guy's group of like-minded seabird shooters - it was a blast!

Winter Wildlife 2011

May 19 2010

We've added extra dates to our Winter Wildlife programme for 2011. These tours book out quickly so if you want to join us for snow, snow and more snow (well actually perhaps not as much as this year), follow the link below.

Phew...

March 22 2010

I have to be honest - I'm knackered!

Six weeks of almost back to back photo-tours, (very) deep snow, car collisions, heating and water failures...and trying to keep the rest of the business afloat...well let's just say the prospect of a night in front of the TV is appealing! Don't get me wrong, we've had fantastic groups in this year and the weather for the most part has been kind, but I've hardly spoken to my son for what seems like months!

Thank you so much to all 96 tour guests for your good company (and valued custom) in recent weeks. Spring is now officially here - onwards and upwards!

And more forecast!

March 4 2010

Apologies for the gap between entries - it's been a hectic period with photo-tours continuing apace. Our 'Arctic' group were snowed in for an extra day and the last of our Winter Wildlife groups (six of which are from Portugal) have enjoyed settled weather but with limited mobility. A half-metre of snow continues to make walking tricky and if the forecast for a further delivery tomorrow is correct, an interesting weekend awaits!

More to follow...

Repeating repetition...again.

February 9 2010

We're in the middle of our Winter Wildlife photo-tours where I tire of the sound of my own voice. Yes, yes, I know our many valued guests do too, but one of the things we try and 'teach'(over and again) is the concept of revisiting well-photographed subjects and interpreting them in different ways. Yesterday as the light was fading, our group photographed this captive Eagle Owl in a setting I've covered several times before...but there's always a different take on a familiar subject...always. I'll repeat: there's always a different take...

Autumn Gold dates announced.

December 9 2009

Our ever-popular Autumn Gold photo-tour dates have now been finalised with the first booking being taken precisely 2 minutes after us uploading the tours!

For 2010 we've added a twist with extensions to both Skye and Inverpolly - those most iconic of Highland landscape locations. Autumn colour, cascading waterfalls, snow-capped mountain ridges - it's all there so do join us!

It's all over.

October 31 2009

It's official. Autumn is over for another year and with it our annual photo-tours which have welcomed almost 40 guests in the last two weeks or so. Without exception, we have enjoyed your company and good humour - especially as this was the wettest autumn that any of us can recall! That said, the colours this year were fantastic.
As ever there were times when we had to push the creative boundaries to create effective imagery. You might not have taken to all of our ideas but we keep trying!
Thanks to all Autumn Gold and 'Moods' guests - look forward to doing it all again next year.

Autumn very gold indeed!

October 16 2009

Our Autumn Gold photo-tours are about to kick off and I'm always nervous about the state of the season's colour but this year looks just splendid. In the course of just 2/3 days, the birches are glowing and with those characteristic stormy days, some fine images are assured - by clients not me!. And...for the time being at least, the sun is shining. Happy Days.

Raptor places.

October 14 2009

I am reminded by our photo-tour department, aka Amanda my wife, that we still have a few places on two of our Highland Raptor workshops early next year. Timed to coincide with maximum potential for dramatic weather (you'll get this but it might not be in the form of snow!), we like to think these workshops are still the best of their kind offering unparalleled opportunities.

Dates are 19-22 Feb; 19-22 March. See photo-tour pages for fuller details
