About Us
Established in 1999, Northshots offers high quality wildlife, landscape and nature images plus topical conservation photo stories by award-winning nature photographer Peter Cairns. In addition, our knowledge and expertise is passed on to others through our range of photography experiences, including wildlife and landscape photo tours, photography hide rental and personal guiding.
Over a decade on, Peter and his wife Amanda remain firmly involved in the day to day running of the business from their base at Ballintean in the Scottish Highlands, where they are now assisted by a few willing (and able!) helpers.
We are also passionate about communicating topical conservation issues … to anyone who will listen and more importantly, to those who won't! Projects such as Tooth & Claw, Highland Tiger and Wild Wonders of Europe underline Peter's commitment to visual communication. Our involvement with 2020VISION is our most ambitious undertaking to date.

Stock Nature Images
We offer reproduction licences for Peter Cairns' wildlife, landscape and conversation images from Scotland and northern Europe, as well as coverage of nature-based tourism, land management and human-wildlife interaction.
Conservation Photo Stories
We offer commissioned reproduction of well-researched image and text features on subjects as diverse as ecotourism, deer management and species reintroductions. Amongst others, our clients include: Book & magazine publishers; Conservation and land management agencies; Advertising and interpretation consultants; Education and scientific organisations.
Photo Tours
Get stunning images and pick up some great tips on our wildlife and landscape photo tours in the Scottish Highlands, around Scotland and in northern Europe. Our base, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, is a truly special place where we provide a real photographic adventure in friendly surroundings.
Photography Hide Rental & Personal Guiding
Our range of purpose-designed photography hides and sites enable in-depth photography of some of Scotland’s most celebrated species. We also offer a personal guiding service with pro nature photographer Mark Hamblin as your guide, with tuition and advice on photographic technique and fieldcraft if required.
